Student Council

The student council at Ellesmere College is made up of 18 students aged 4-19 throughout the college and over the two sites at Aylestone Meadows and Knighton Fields. In addition to this we have two head students, who are ambassadors for our school.

All students have been elected by their peers to be a “voice” for the students and share ideas. Our head student elections involve making a video of themselves stating how they can improve the school and why they should be voted for. The head students regularly feedback to the Executive Principal after each meeting and are a driving force in student voice input into the College Development Plan.

The student council are involved in fortnightly meetings, recruitment, working with external agencies, community projects and decision making.

Student council have been involved in staff interviews, designing the new school logo, Post 16 uniform, student surveys, rewards for Ellesmere Personal Qualities, as well as deciding on the whole school performance for the summer and helping to plan the Fun Day.

The head students are actively involved in reporting back student voice to the Governors.

The student council feel valued and a worthy group within the College and understand they are able to influence change.
